Vegetable Garden | Update

Our vegetables are really starting to take off! The lettuce was looking a bit sad there for a while, so we moved it to a different part of the garden which gets the morning sun but not the afternoon sun and it seems to have perked back up. The capsicums are looking really good - I am really hoping some of the turn red though (they are supposed to be half red, half green) as I like the red ones better. The tomatoes are taking a little longer to grow, but hopefully we will have a good crop soon enough.

Watching my little veggies grow is really making me want a proper vegetable patch with herbs! And maybe some chickens. I cannot wait until we buy a house (one day!)

Yoga | Lifestyle Benefits & How it Help Me!

image from pinterest

I am not a very sporty person. Ask me to run and I would probably pass out! I've tried gym memberships, but after a few weeks it loses its appeal and I stop going. I had tried yoga and polities classes before, but I never went to them on a regular basis. This was up until the beginning of last year when my naturopath encouraged me to come along to her classes. Because she was my naturopath, I felt like a had to go because otherwise she would be on to me!

After now attending yoga classes for the pass 2 years, and this year 2 classes a week, I am absolutely loving the benefits I am seeing. For those who have not been to a yoga class, it is not just about being able to touch your toes. If you are doing it properly, you should feel the stretches all over your body and it can be quite an intense work out.

There are many benefits to yoga. Not only does it help with flexibility, but it also helps to tone and sculpt your body. Yoga is also great exercise for your mind, by helping you focus on you and your breathing, letting the stresses of life slip away. This has been especially beneficial for me as I am a big thinker and worrier, so it allows me to focus on myself and not my thoughts.

If you suffer from things such as stress, anxiety or depression, I would highly suggest you take up yoga on a regular basis. It has been and still is a fantastic way for me to focus on myself, and I am definitely a better person from doing it.

If you need a little bit of inspiration, Rachel Brathen a very experienced yoga teacher and daily yogi who posts videos, pictures and inspiring words on her facebook everyday as well as her other social media outlets. Keep in mind she is a very experienced yoga teacher so do not expect to look like her straight away!

Have you tried yoga or something similar before?

Vegetable Garden | Update

We finally have cherry tomatoes and capsicums! I was very excited to discover these little beauties growing on our plants over the weekend. It gives you a real sense of satisfaction seeing these vegetables appear - I have managed to not only keep them alive but help them thrive! (Corny rhyming there sorry)

Do you have your own vegetable patch? One day I will have a proper patch in my backyard!

Bowerbird Bazaar | Adelaide's Design Markets

I had the most amazing time at my first Bowerbird Bazaar markets this morning. I was blown away by all the amazing products on offer from the Australian based shops and their stalls. From clothing to homewares, skin products, accessories, garden decorations...I could go on! It had absolutely everything. This is the tenth Bowerbird Bazaar market - and I can only see them increasing in popularity in years to come. I will certainly be going again next year. I only picked up a couple of things this time as I really had no idea what to expect!

$2 // Elm Paper

This packet of 4 notebooks (which also came with a gift tag, not shown above) were only $2! I have become a massive list and note maker lately so I know these will come in very handy. These are from Elm Paper. The stall also had the cutest Christmas gift tags and card packs (you can find these on their website - free shipping Australia wide!

3 for $10 // Anrol Designs

Yes, more notebooks! I could not resist these notebooks 3 for $10! They are from a shop called Anrol Designs. Michelle (who I went with) and I spent a good 5 - 10 minutes at this stall laughing at the hilariously quirky cards, notebooks and gifts that they had to offer. I suggest you check out their website to see what I am on about! Whilst my notebooks above are not funny, I thought they were very cute and like them all the same.

$20 // Itchy Bird

Last but definitely not least - Michelle bought me this gorgeous necklace from a stall as an early birthday present - very spoilt! I absolutely love this necklace. The colours are absolutely gorgeous and the simple design means I will be able to dress it up or dress it down. It is from a shop called Itchy Bird, which had so many gorgeous necklaces, broaches and earrings just to name a few.

There were a few other stalls that I love but did not purchase any goods from this time around but will be on the lookout for in the future!

This Adelaide based company have probably the coolest lamp invention I have seen. These lamps are absolutely gorgeous and customisable! The lamp starts out as 2 sheets of plastic. You then decide what paper you would like between the plastic sheets, and then it rolls into a lamp (please visit the website to see the instructions and their amazing lamps)

I love love love wall decals and this Adelaide based shop has the cutest decals. Unfortunately we don't own our house, so I could not buy any to take home...this time!

This Adelaide based fashion label has the most gorgeous pieces of clothing - and for a reasonable price! They are very feminine pieces - I wanted to go home with most of them today.

Rabbit and the Duck
This Australian based shop has the cutest stationery, and other craft items. They were very reasonably priced.

If you live in Adelaide, I suggest you take some time to go to the next Bowerbird Bazaar from the 2nd - 4th May 2014. I will definitely be there!

Date Night | Eye Look

This simple pink smokey eye is perfect for a date night with your other half. It is so easy to achieve! Scroll down to find out how.

Step 1 | Sweep a shimmery cream colour over your entire lid.

Step 2 | Using a light pink shade, apply this to 2/3rds of the lid including the crease.

Step 3 | Use a slightly darker pink shade in the outer corner of the eye to give it more definition.

Step 4 | Line your top lashline with black liquid or gel eyeliner, and create a small flick at the end (optional). Using either a black or brown kohl pencil (for a more toned down look I used brown) line your lower and (optional) upper waterline.

Step 6 | Apply mascara to the top and bottom lashes and this look is complete!

This look would also be great for a more formal spring time day look.

Weekend Shopping | Haul

I have been on a spending ban lately, which has been pretty easy considering there have been a million bills to pay so spending money on things I want like material and new makeup has been pretty much impossible. So when I popped into Spotlight with a friend on the weekend, I wasn't actually planning on buying anything...until I saw their massive sales. I managed to pick up all of the items below for less than $50! Such a bargain.

Teal Canvas // $5/metre (reduced from $15/metre!) // Spotlight

Black, White, Silver & Teal Stripe // $3.50/metre (reduced from $5/metre) // Spotlight

Navy & White Striped Knit // $3.50/metre (reduced from $5/metre) // Spotlight

Kakhi Material // $3.50/metre (reduced from $5/metre) // Spotlight

Newlook Dress Pattern (my 1st pattern!) // $10.50 // Spotlight

Invisible Zipper (for the dress I am making from the above pattern) // $5.00 / Spotlight

I also popped past National Pharmacies on my way home because I really needed a darker foundation and some new powder. They had some member specials as well as my usual 20ish % off for being a member so it actually worked out quite cheap!

Maybelline Falsies Mascara // $11ish // National Pharmacies

Clearasal Ultra Rapid Action Deep Pore Scrub // $11ish // National Pharmacies

Natio Daily Protection Face Moisturiser SPF 15 // $12ish // National Pharmacies

Maybelline Fit Me Foundation in 230 // $11ish // National Pharmacies

I have been using this foundation for a while now but in the shade 130, however I really needed a darker shade for summer so I picked up the 230 shade which has been much nicer on my skin! I think I will still wear the 130 during the day for now as I can still get away with it, and use the 230 for night time.

Maybelline Fit Me Powder in 230 // $8ish // National Pharmacies

Overall a very successful weekend of shopping! I will be posting about my creations when I get around to making them.

Favourite Products | October

I have been loving these products this month, so much so that I wanted to share them with you!

Nivea in-shower Body Lotion
This stuff is absolutely amazing! And it also means I don't forget to moisturise after I hop out of the shower. Once you have cleansed your body / shaved, apply this while you are still in the shower and then rinse off. Once you have dried yourself, it will leave your skin feeling silky smooth. I am always skeptical of products like this, but safe to say this one actually works!

Napoleon Perdis Rainbow Eye Palette
I actually picked up this eyeshadow palette in a promotion Westfield were running, where you received the palette free if you spent $120 or more in selected stores - so I am not sure if you can actually purchase this product or not. I am a massive fan of Napoleon Perdis makeup, and this palette is no exception. The colours are stunning and I know I would wear most of them. They are stunning on the eyelid - a tad shimmery - and last all day.

Lee Stafford Argon Oil - from Morocco
This is not the first time I have mentioned this beauty on my blog, but I seriously cannot get enough of it! It makes my hair look amazing, especially if I decide to keep my hair naturally curly. This product also keeps my fly-aways under control no matter how I have styles my hair.

What products are you loving at the moment?

Garden Update | Flowers!

I have some gorgeous flowers appearing in my garden this month! I adore the colour of my Pertunia's, they really bring some brightness to the backyard.

On another exciting note... My capsicums are here!! Yep those little bulbs will soon be capsicums (I hope!) the next big surprise will be whether they are red or green capsicums.

Another garden post I know, but it's about the most exciting thing happening in my life at the moment! Things have been so busy lately I haven't had much time for anything else!

Enjoy your week :)

Vegetable Garden | Update

No sign of any vegetables yet, but my capsicum, cherry tomatoes and lettuce are certainly growing! (You can compare them to my first post here.) I was worried they might have looked a bit off when we came back from our weekend away as we had some warm weather, but they perked right back up with a long soak.

Hopefully we will start to see some activity soon!
